Testing Information

Testing was
completed in September 2003 on a BLOCK JOIST®
roof assembly using standard 4x8x16 solid blocks, one installed
vertically for every two laid flat. A 3 to 1 sand/cement grout
filled the space above the flat blocks to make a uniformly thick
7 5/8" slab. here is what the assembly looked like: |

Four fifteen pound 2x4 missiles
were fired at the assembly to simulate flying debris in a 250
mph tornado, consistent with the guidelines of FEMA 320. As you
would expect, the tests were totally successful. |
